Struggling with behavioral health concerns can be overwhelming and difficult. It does not discriminate between age, gender, or race, but it does impact each person differently. You may feel alone in your struggle or unsure of how to improve your situation. My goal as a psychologist is to help provide clarity and support during these difficult times, while offering solutions and guidance tailored to your specific experience and needs. I aim to provide comprehensive care through evidence-based treatment as well as work alongside you to find the best solutions for your concern.
I am a licensed psychologist with a passion for both clinical and forensic psychology. My path began at New Mexico State University, where I earned my bachelor’s degree in psychology, followed by my Master’s and Doctorate in Clinical Psychology from The Chicago School of Professional Psychology in Los Angeles. My doctoral research focused on depression in veterans, a topic that reflects my commitment to understanding and supporting individuals facing significant mental health challenges.
Over the years, I’ve worked in residential care homes, group homes, correctional facilities, hospitals, and outpatient programs. One of the roles I’m most proud of is serving as a crisis evaluator in emergency departments where I was able to offer support to those who felt they were at their worst place. I had the privilege of offering patients support and compassion while creating and implementing a treatment plan to help reduce their pain. Additionally, I served as a Program Director for the Jail-Based Competency Treatment Program at South Placer County Jail for several years. There I helped design and launch this state-wide program, which restores inmate-patients to competency so they can move forward with their legal process in a healthier state of mind. I’ve also conducted Mentally Disordered Offender (MDO) evaluations, provided treatment in inpatient psychiatric settings, managed intensive outpatient programs, and even worked on innovative telehealth-based research.
I use a variety of evidence-based approaches in my work, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Trauma-Focused CBT, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). My clinical experience covers a wide range of areas, from mood and psychotic disorders to trauma, substance use, and developmental disorders. I started my career working with families and young children. I have a passion for supporting our youth and encouraging healthy mental and emotional development.
I have a special interest in psychological evaluations as this allows us to explore and assess current challenges and strengths. What I bring to every evaluation is a balance of thoroughness, objectivity, and compassion. Whether I’m providing an assessment for the courts, supporting attorneys with expert testimony, or helping private clients, my goal is always the same: to deliver clear and reliable insights that make a meaningful difference and provide a psychological solution.
“You know, you do need mentors, but in the end, you really just need to believe in yourself.” ---Diana Ross
“My mission in life is not merely to survive, but to thrive; and to do so with some passion, some compassion, some humor, and some style.” --- Maya Angelou
Beyond my professional role:
Outside of my career, I am a mom and wife who loves to create special moments with my two beautiful children and amazing husband. I am a huge animal lover and never have less than five furry family members at any given time. Giving to others as well as my spirituality are what I find most rewarding. My main goal in life has always been to leave the world a little bit better than it was when I got here and to help others along the way.

Starting therapy or undergoing psychological assessment—particularly in forensic or correctional settings—can feel daunting and confusing. Individuals often face uncertainty about the process, worry about outcomes, or feel overwhelmed by the complexity of their situations. My goal is to demystify these experiences, providing clarity and support while meeting each person where they are. Through a comprehensive, evidence-based, and individualized approach, I strive to ensure that every assessment and therapeutic intervention is tailored to the unique needs, circumstances, and goals of each client. I am committed to fostering a respectful, professional, and supportive environment, empowering clients and stakeholders to move forward with understanding and confidence.
I am a licensed clinical psychologist with a doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology (Forensic Emphasis) from Alliant International University, San Diego. My APA-accredited training and extensive experience span correctional mental health, forensic evaluation, inpatient psychiatric care, and community-based settings. Currently, I serve as Senior Psychologist Specialist at California Healthcare Facility, where I conduct mental health and forensic assessments for inmates, provide clinical supervision, and support staff development. I am also the Co-Founder and CFO of Psych Solutions, providing forensic evaluations in San Joaquin County, individual therapy in Stanislaus County, and group treatment for adult populations.
Over the past decade, I have held key clinical roles at South Placer County Jail, Mule Creek State Prison, San Joaquin County Jail, Metropolitan State Hospital, Alvarado Parkway Institute, and Richard J. Donovan Correctional Facility. My work includes conducting risk assessments, providing individual and group therapy, leading interdisciplinary teams, and delivering trainings in suicide prevention and mental health best practices. I am experienced in a broad range of assessment tools and therapeutic modalities, including CBT, DBT, Motivational Interviewing, psychodynamic, and psychodiagnostic testing for cognitive, personality, and forensic issues.
I am passionate about working with adults and justice-involved populations, with a special focus on forensic assessment, competency evaluation, trauma, and severe mental illness. I am committed to ongoing professional growth, mentoring new clinicians, and advocating for trauma-informed care in forensic and correctional settings. My passion lies in helping individuals navigate complex challenges and supporting teams in delivering compassionate, evidence-based treatment.
More than just my work:
“Trauma is a fact of life. It does not, however, have to be a life sentence.” — Peter A. LevineOutside of my professional life, I find joy in spending time with my family—including my wonderful wife, our four children, and two energetic puppies. I am passionate about serving others as I serve God, and I strive to bring compassion and purpose to both my work and personal life. I enjoy outdoor activities such as boating and sports, which help me recharge and stay connected to what matters most.
