    Forensic Evaluations

At Psych Solutions, we provide comprehensive forensic evaluations and assessments related to competency to stand trial, mental health diversion, Not Guilty by Reason of Insanity (NGRI), and mental health impact analyses within the California legal system.

Competency to Stand Trial (Penal Code §§1367, 1368):
We assess whether a defendant has the mental capacity to understand the nature of the criminal proceedings and assist counsel in their defense. Under Penal Code Section 1367, a defendant must be competent to stand trial. If incompetency is suspected, evaluations are conducted in accordance with Penal Code Section 1368 to determine fitness for trial.

Mental Health Diversion (Penal Code §§1001.36, 1001.37):
Psych Solutions supports defendants eligible for mental health diversion programs under Penal Code Section 1001.36. This involves evaluating the mental health status and suitability for diversion to treatment programs instead of incarceration, aiming to reduce recidivism and support rehabilitation.

Not Guilty by Reason of Insanity (Penal Code §§1026, 1027):
Our forensic experts conduct detailed assessments relevant to NGRI defenses. Under Penal Codes 1026 and 1027, evaluations focus on whether a defendant was legally insane at the time of the offense, considering their ability to understand the nature and wrongfulness of their actions.

    Mental Health Impact Analyses:
We provide mental health impact analyses for various legal purposes, including sentencing, parole, and probation decisions, helping the court understand the psychological context and needs of individuals within the criminal justice system.

Psych Solutions is committed to delivering precise, evidence-based forensic assessments that support justice and mental health outcomes within California’s penal framework.
